Job Description: Under the direction of the WWF Chile Director, the Marine Coordinator establishes conservation strategies for WWF marine priority areas in Chile and promotes the protection and proper management of marine biodiversity. The marine conservation coordinator will oversee activities related to the conservation and establishment of high conservation value areas (HCVAs) and marine protected areas (MPAs) in Southern Chile, serving as primary contact for government officials, NGOs, industries, and local and indigenous communities for WWF Chile?s work in MPA development.
Ideal candidates will show initiative, have good judgement and be skilled at interacting with a wide range of stakeholders. The candidate will be knowledgeable in marine ecosystems, MPAs, and their management, as well as in environmental issues and politics in Chile. In addition, the candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to work comfortably with a wide variety of stakeholders.
I. Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Leads WWF Chile?s marine conservation work and WWF Chile?s goal of ensuring that the biodiversity in Chile?s Chiloense Ecoregion is protected and well-managed by 2020.
2. Leads development of WWF Chile?s marine conservation strategies, in particular the design and implementation of the marine eco-region action plan, which will include developing a common position with local partners.
3. Leads WWF efforts to promote the establishment of a viable and representative network of MPAs in the Marine Ecoregion. Work will include working with government agencies responsible for declaring this MPA as well as other stakeholders.
4. Communicates effectively and leads work, maintaining relationships with colleagues, grantees, NGOs, scientists, consultants, government officials, fishermen, local fisherman, industries, local and indigenous communities.
5. Monitors the development and management of WWF marine conservation supported projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: preparation of TOR, direct technical assistance to projects; supervision of consultants; contract management such as tracking deliverables and corresponding with grantees; coordinating travel of consultants and staff; coordinating production of reports; budget development researching and writing components of project documents
6. Monitors new technical information, policy development, issues and trends related to marine ecosystems and keeps technically and scientifically updated
7. Assists in organizing meetings and workshops (some international), including event planning and scheduling; preparation of materials; making travel arrangements; budgeting and tracking expenses; arranging meeting facilities; ordering supplies; and meeting other logistical needs. May attend sessions to take and transcribe notes for minutes and other reports.
8. Upon request from supervisor, develops reports, papers, and slide presentations on marine conservation-related topics, as well as proposals for WWF fund-raising activities for marine related project in Chile.
9. Working together with the communications team, acts as spokesperson for marine conservation with the media, WWF network and external actors.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor and plays an active role in the successful operation of the project/program.

III. Working Relationships:
a) Internal:
Maintains regular contact with WWF International and LAC Program Staff, and Ecoregion support staff in WWF US and WWF International
Interacts with other WWF Chile Program coordinators to ensure delivery of their contributions to the overall Conservation Plan.
Works closely with WWF supporting areas like communities program, administration, GIS/IT and communication in order to assure a successful Marin program but also contributing to the success of WWF Chile.
b) External:
Interacts with other conservation organizations, governments agencies, local communities, indigenous people, fisheries, research institutes, universities, and productive sectors to provide and obtain information and coordinate activities.
IV. Minimum Requirements:
1. Knowledge: Degree (Bachelor's required, graduate degree is preferred) in biological sciences, public policy, social sciences, environmental science, international development or related field.
2. Experience: at least five years of working experience and at least two years experience in conservation planning, marine environment, program management, or relevant research in Marine environment.
3. Skills and Abilities: Interest in international conservation and development issues, cross cultural sensitivity, creativity and flexibility are essential to this position. Ability to conduct research and ability to quickly distill the essential points from documents essential. Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills are also important. Candidates should be able to effectively prioritize and execute a large number of activities at once, with minimal supervision. Word processing skills are required.

Primary responsibilities include programmatic work relevant to the development and implementation of seafood business relationships, namely source fishery assessment work and fishery improvement efforts. WWF DRC, Landscape Deputy Officer/Deputy Landscape Leader (Salonga, DRC)

WWF-DRC seeks to recruit for its Salonga-Lukenie-Sankuru Landscape a Deputy Landscape leader to assist the Landscape Leader.
The Salonga-Lukenie-Sankuru (SLS) Landscape is one of DRC priority conservation landscape which contains the Salonga National Park (SNP), established in 1970, and classified as a World Heritage Site in 1984. The SNP is best known as the only national protected area in the DRC sheltering the endemic bonobo, Pan paniscus, as well as the second largest tropical forest park in the world. Despite limited accessibility recent surveys reveal a highly threatened protected area. To combat these threats, numerous donor agencies are investing in protected area management including local community management of natural resources in the buffer zone and outward throughout the landscape.
I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS
The Deputy Landscape Leader is responsible for providing assistance to the Landscape Leader (LL) with an emphasis on community activities and reporting and proposal writing.
For community activities, s/he shares responsibility with the Community Support Coordinator (CSC) with division of responsibility to be based on geography, themes, and/or by project. Community activities are focused on the development of community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) zones each with their own management and zoning plan. Equal attention will be devoted to communities whose land overlap with logging concessions by assisting them to negotiate for continued and protected access to their land and resources and any revenue-generated from these same resources and land.
While based in Kinshasa, s/he will be expected to travel frequently to liaison and field sites within the landscape.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Community work
1. Support community activities together with the CSC. Includes field visits, proposal writing, contributing to methodology development, identifying new partners, recruiting consultants, scheduling and preparing different activities and field missions, and monitoring and evaluating progress.
2. Provide oversight in the administration of small grant programs for communities (BMZ, wildlife study, future WB)
3. Assist in the identification of consultants and new partners for community activities
4. Ensure synergy of activities and approaches with other Consortium members (ZSM, Pact, WCS, INCEF, etc.)
5. Ensure that community activities contribute to the achievement of the GHOA goals and objectives and that there is synergy with strategies and associated action plans.
Reporting
1. Responsible for monitoring and reporting on the CARPE matrix (semi-annual and annual)
2. Conducts a ?quality control? of all Means of Verification (MOV) produced by the Consortium for CBNRM areas and activities before submitting to the Landscape Leader for final review
3. Ensure the monitoring of indicators and the achievement of benchmarks (strategy documents, management plans) for CBNRM zones and other community activities and their consolidation into different reporting formats (State of the Forest, CARPE, etc.)
4. Create and monitor a reporting schedule for Consortium partners to be used for semi-annual and annual reporting of the CARPE program and as required for other projects.
Other
1. Assist the LL in the management of project funds according to project plans, annual budgets and donor organization regulations
2. Assist in the development of annual work plans including relevant budgets
3. Oversee the production of a landscape newsletter two times per year
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge: A Master?s degree in rural development, natural resources management, social sciences or related field.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience working with rural communities in Africa in the context of socioeconomic studies, environmental education, rural development projects or community empowerment. Experience in participatory methodology. Good knowledge of environmental and community based natural resource management issues.
Skills and abilities: Fluency in French (main working language) and English with excellent and proven writing skills in both languages. Good analytical and problem solving skills.

WWF DRC, Conservation Programme Director

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the global conservation organization, has a large conservation programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), implementing a large number of projects dealing with protected areas management, environmental education activities, NGO and government support on forest, freshwater, species, and marine ecosystems projects, in collaboration with various partners.
To assist WWF in managing a challenging conservation agenda, the WWF-DRC Country Office is recruiting a Conservation Director to directly assist the Country Coordinator and the WWF-DRC team in achieving WWF?s conservation objectives in DRC, and the Congo Basin region in general. This is a new position within WWF-DRC, and requires a seasoned conservation professional. The candidate should be dynamic, with excellent inter-personal skills, high level of moral integrity and good language skills. This senior professional will be involved in implementing an exciting and ambitious conservation programme.
I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS
The Conservation Director is responsible for programme development for the entire programme and provides advice to the DRC Country Coordinator on pertinent conservation issues in the region. The Conservation Director provides leadership and technical support for the development, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of WWF?s conservation programme in DRC, under the guidance of the DRC Country Coordinator.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Programme Development:
Provide leadership in the development of the conservation programme by undertaking the identification and design of new projects through participatory processes.
Assists the Country Coordinator in the development of the DRC programme operational plan and budget.
Co-ordinates the identification and design of new projects through participatory processes.
Prepares thematic or conservation issues-related plans, papers and guidelines, as needed, on his/her own and/or upon request.
B. Programme Co-ordination, Supervision, Monitoring and Evaluation:
Co-ordinates and manages the conservation programme in DRC, and manages specific projects as appropriate.
Supervises project managers, Landscape Leaders, and provides technical advice as appropriate.
In collaboration with the Country Coordinator, ensures that the programme-wide timetable for the evaluation of projects is developed, maintained and respected, and that lessons are compiled for future reference and use by the WWF Network;
Provides advice to the Country Coordinator on pertinent conservation issues and provides specific technical input, ad hoc advice and assistance, and implementation support to projects, as needed.
C. Programme Information Management and Communications
Works closely with the Country Coordinator, other WWF-DRC appropriate staff and WWF International to develop an effective national and international communications strategy for the Programme.
Works with relevant staff to provide information on programme activities and conservation issues to the WWF-CARPO, WWF Network, the general public, scientific community, the press or media and donors.
III. WORKING RELATIONS
Internal: Interacts with WWF-DRC?s programme/project coordinators and staff on a daily basis. Co-ordinates and interacts with WWF-CARPO and International and WWF Network staff as appropriate. Also interacts with other WWF-CARPO offices.
External: Collaborates with governmental institutions, non-governmental organisations, as well as the media and donors in DRC. Interacts with entities outside DRC, as agreed with the Country Coordinator.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge: The Conservation Director must have an advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in natural resources management, biological sciences or related field experience.
Experience: The Conservation Director must have broad working experience in conservation in
DRC, with at least five years of experience. Additional international experience and understanding of field-based activities is essential.
Skills and Abilities: Good technical, organizational, interpersonal and teambuilding skills essential. Ability to develop and co-ordinate conservation programmes and projects and to work effectively with a wide variety of partners and disciplines. Excellent understanding of ecoregional conservation, and the principles of conservation biology, as well as DRC?s biodiversity. Good understanding of WWF?s objectives and conservation strategies. WWF CARPO, GAA Senior Officer

This position will formulate and revise periodically the Green Heart of Africa GAA strategy, coordinate approaches to major donors and their representatives in the sub-region with CARPO staff and the WWF Network, ensuring the coherence of policy and funding dialogues with GAA donors, ensuring that funding proposals are both rigorous and relevant to donors and the GHOA conservation plan and that GAA contracts are properly complied with and fulfilled.
The GAA Senior Officer is the main point of contact between GHOA and other WWF Network GAA Focal Points.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develops and supports the implementation of the GHOA GAA strategy: He/She will:
Work with GHOA NI team and CARPO?s Country Programme Offices, national governments and other partners to design, implement and revise periodically regional and national GAA strategies to support the GHOA conservation plan;
In close collaboration with the CARPO Regional Representative, National Country Coordinators/National GAA Liaison Officers and NI Leader, coordinate policy and funding dialogues with local representation offices of GAA.
Maintain regular policy and funding dialogue and develop joint work programmes with WWF Network GAA Focal Points on GAA regional/national issues, funding opportunities and areas of cooperation in support of the implementation of the GHOA and Governments? regional/national priorities.
Provide and/or coordinate training and assistance on all aspects of GAA partnerships (relationship management, project and proposal development, project implementation, trouble shooting and adaptive management, monitoring and evaluation) to colleagues in CARPO.
2. Coordinates and ensures quality control on GAA proposal development: He/She will:
Promote and coordinate proposal development and submission that adhere to the GAA standards and priorities, in close consultation with WWF Network GAA Focal Points
Coordinate with programme staff, local GAA representations and WWF Network GAA Focal Points to submit proposals and negotiate contracts.
Promote and encourage cost recovery for WWF recipients to the extent possible from the GAA donor.
3. Advises on ensuring quality delivery on GAA contracts. He/She will:
Work with CARPO colleagues to monitor GAA projects performance and effective dialogue with local GAA representation in relation to GAA contracts.
Provide reports on progress on GAA contract delivery to GHOA management and WWF Network GAA Focal Points.
As necessary, identify and find appropriate ways to resolve any major risks to the WWF?s credibility that may arise from execution of GAA contracts, in close collaboration with GHOA management, CARPO team and WWF Network.
4. Takes on other duties as requested by the WWF-CARPO Regional Representative and GHOA NI Leader.
Profile:
Knowledge: A minimum of MSc or MA in law, business, natural resources management, international relations, biological sciences, and related field experience.
Experience: Solid experience in conservation-related program development and management, fundraising, and capacity building is essential. At least 8 years? experience in the development field or with institutional donors with experience of policy, funding instruments and contract administration and public relations are required with experience in the use of computers essential.
Skills and Abilities: Good technical, organizational, interpersonal and team-building skills essential; ability to work effectively with a wide variety of partners and disciplines. WWF, Corporate Engagement Manager - Heart of Borneo Network Initiative

WWF, the global conservation organization, seeks a Corporate Engagement Manager for the Heart of Borneo Network Initiative to lead development and implementation of transformative relationships with select companies from the timber, pulp and paper, oil palm and mining industries. The Corporate Engagement Manager will work closely with colleagues from the region and internationally to generate major commitments to minimize ecological footprint of select companies through implementation of responsible and best management practices within the Heart of Borneo.
Basic Requirements:
A Master?s degree in natural resource management, corporate social responsibility or related field required. Private sector experience and a Masters of Business Administration degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience in corporate social responsibility, entrepreneurship and extractive industry experience is required. The ideal candidate will have strong program development, marketing, strategic planning, organizational development, and analytical/problem-solving skills skills, and a high degree of initiative and flexibility to accommodate deadlines and constantly changing priorities.

WWF, Sustainable Finance and Policy Manager - Heart of Borneo Network Initiative

WWF, the global conservation organization, seeks a Sustainable Finance and Policy Manager for the Heart of Borneo Network Initiative to lead development and implementation of policies and equitable payment schemes to incentivize the conservation of ecosystem goods and services. The Sustainable Finance and Policy Manager will work closely with colleagues from the region and internationally to engage key public and private policy and financial institutions to develop broad support for sustainable financing mechanisms that advance the conservation goals and objectives of the Heart of Borneo Initiative.
Basic Requirements:
A Master?s degree in natural resource economics, ecosystem services, environmental law or related field. A minimum of 5 years of successful professional experience working with bi- or multilateral agencies. Sustainable financing project development and fundraising experience as well as familiarity with scientific and policy dimensions of ecosystem services is essential. The ideal candidate will have strong program development, strategic planning, analytical/problem-solving skills, and a high degree of initiative and flexibility to accommodate deadlines and constantly changing priorities. The position will require close coordination with scientific expertise on valuation of ecosystem goods and services, WWF expertise on GAA fundraising and policy, and local expertise on policy and governance issues.

Central America Wildlife Trade Officer, San Jose, Costa Rica

Major functions:
Implementation of CITES capacity building projects in Central America and the Dominican Republic.
Coordination between WWF Central America and TRAFFIC North America to ensure synergies with other species related work (i.e. marine turtles and fisheries by-catch reduction).

The HR Manager - Network Initiatives provides a full range of HR services to the Network Initiatives (NIs) ? and assists in particular respective NI Leaders in staffing NIs and managing all mobility/relocation issues.
The key requirements are:
A professional Human Resources qualification or equivalent tertiary education
A minimum of 5 years' professional experience in Human Resources ideally with experience in dealing with HR issues in a global context
Experience in handling internationally mobile staff
Proven interpersonal and people management skills
Strong communication and influencing skills
Meticulous with keen attention to detail
Able to identify and provide solutions which benefit the organization
Positive attitude and an organized approach to work
Willing to travel extensively and demonstrates interest in conservation
Perfect written and spoken English and other languages will be an asset
