Under the supervision of the Lac Tumba Programme Manager the Conservation Advisor will ensure coordination and implementation of technical and administrative management of the Ngiri/TRICOP project situated in Equateur Province, DRC aiming at conserving the carbon sequestrated in the swamp forests of the area and improving the livelihoods of the population while diminishing its non sustainable impact on the environment.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Ensure a proper coordination of the biological and socio-economic parts of the project
Plan and manage the carrying out of field activities
Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, ensure integration of project activities within the larger framework of GHOA (Green Heart of Africa) Network Initiative
Draft mid year and annual technical reports
Ensure a good collaboration with local stakeholders
Support implementation of socio-economic activities geared towards sustainable development
Initiate and secure conservation agreements for bonobos and other protected species with local communities within the project area
Support organisation and functioning of local committees for natural resource management
Apply principles of community based conservation to ease pressure on biodiversity in the project area
Carry out participatory mapping of the project area to ensure micro zoning for sustainable natural resource management
Monitor progress of deforestation in the area.
Profile
Education :
A university degree in a field related to nature conservation (A MSc is preferable)
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of working experience.
Experience with international conservation organizations is an asset.

WWF, the global conservation organisation, is looking to fill a full-time position in its Brussels European Policy Office (WWF-EPO) to work as Senior Public Affairs Officer, Marine and Fisheries Programme.
The post holder will represent WWF?s positions on fisheries and marine conservation matters principally to the EU institutions. She/he will provide strategic advice and leadership and support to the marine and fisheries team in the WWF European network of national organisations, including engaging with key industry sectors.
The successful candidate will have a university degree in a relevant discipline and at least six years of professional experience. He/she will have significant experience with EU institutions, and possess strong communications and interpersonal skills. Fluency in English and proficiency in another European language are required.

Supervises: Regional finance & IT team
Co-ordinates: Finance Managers in the region
Grade: R1
I. Major Functions:
To supervise and co-ordinate the development and implementation of policies, procedures and systems for all financial support services throughout the Programme, including accounting, financial reporting, auditing, IT systems, budget management, and adherence to guidelines developed by the Home Office.
To support the Sub-Regional Representative in the development of the Programme's Strategic and Business Plans for the entire Programme and in ensuring that the programme has enough financial resources to comply with its contractual obligations.
II. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Policies, procedures and systems
Ensures that all Programme locations apply the established WWF International Field Financial Operations Policies & Procedures as set out in the appropriate manuals and the WWF Network standards issued by the Chief Operating Officer of WWF International;
Ensures that all Programme locations operate in strict application of the laws and regulations in force and ensures that the policies and procedures are adapted, where necessary, to reflect these laws and regulations in coordination with the Home office where local laws & regulations contradict WWF International policies & procedures;
Ensures that all Programme locations are properly equipped with the appropriate WWF International approved systems, accounting, IT and processing software, and that these are updated in a co-ordinated and timely manner.
B. Financial Management and Reporting
Ensures that all Programme locations have appropriate financial structures with properly qualified and trained staff;
Ensures the adequacy and quality of financial reports, systems, procedures and internal controls in all Programme locations; oversees the financial consolidation of all programme offices reporting into the Sub-Regional Office;
Develops a timetable for data transfer from Country Offices and Projects within the sub-region to ensure timely preparation of consolidated financial reports. Directs the preparation and distribution of all consolidated financial reports;
Supervises the development of and modifications to the Programme's Chart of Accounts, in co-ordination with the Country Offices and WWF International;
Ensures that all contracts are properly developed and that all Programme locations and sub-contractees properly monitor and fulfil their contractual obligations, including reporting to donors;
Co-ordinates and participates in the preparation of project and Programme budgets and forecasts;
Ensures that all project budgets, and particularly that of the Sub-Regional Programme Office, are fully funded;
Ensures that staff contracts are funded and appropriate systems are in place for payment;
Ensures that the financial reports for all Programme locations are regularly reviewed, analysed and followed-up jointly by senior finance staff and the project executants;
Calls funds from donors on a timely basis for Projects under the direct management of the Sub-Regional Office;
Co-ordinates transfers of funds to Projects under the direct management of the Sub-Regional Office;
Ensures quality of service of the Financial departements, monitors the Financial Key performance indicator (KPI) reporting.
C. Strategic and Business Planning
Ensures that the Sub-Regional Programme develops and maintains a Business Plan appropriate to the requirements of its Strategic Plan.
Co-ordinates the preparation of the annual operations and programme budgets for the Programme, in accordance with the annual planning cycle. Budget planning will require close collaboration with finance, accounting, administration and programme staff.
Assists in the preparation and review of all proposals for submission for funding relative to Projects.
D. Special Projects
Oversees any special projects, conducts analysis as required on any of the above activities.
III. Profile
Required Functional Skills:
A university degree in Commerce, Business Administration or related field; possession of an MBA or equivalent post-graduate qualification would be an advantage.
Full accounting qualification i.e. CPA, ACCA or equivalent.
Over 10 years working experience in a senior Finance position preferably in a major international organisation/NGO.
Demonstrable skills in the development of finance and accounting policies, procedures and systems in the context of an international NGO.
Good knowledge of fund accounting including reporting requirements of major Government and Aid Agencies. Hands-on knowledge of the ACCPAC accounting software would be a distinct advantage.
English/French fluent, mobility.

External - Interacts with audit firms, fiscal body, donors, specialists / consultants, and other stakeholders, in collaboration with the CARPO Representative.

Major Functions
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of the most important centers for biodiversity in the world. The DRC government has made a commitment to expand protected area (PA) coverage to 15% of the nation?s territory. Creating and sustaining this vast amount of territory as protected area will require an integrated approach, including assessment of the current PA network, evaluation of the potential for new protected areas, participatory processes for gazettement, coordination among government and partners, and effective management of existing and newly created Protected Areas. Within the WWF DR Congo Program Office (DRCPO), the Protected Areas Project Manager is responsible for spearheading the Protected Areas Program for WWF DRC, working with key partners and stakeholders to develop and implement a coordinated plan for supporting the DRC government on establishment and effective management of their protected area network.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
He/she plans, directs and oversees the project activities as defined in the project descriptions, approved work plans and budgets in close cooperation with partners. Responsibilities include:
Lead development and implementation of WWF DRC?s Protected Area strategy to support establishment and effective management of 15 mi ha of protected area in the DRC.
Design and lead a systematic and participative assessment of the existing PA network in DRC, building on existing analyses and rankings of priority areas.
Assist the Ministry of the Environment and other official agencies in charge of conservation in collaboration with WWF and other partners, to detail and delineate a strategy for designing and consolidating a representative expanded and sustainable PA network.
Facilitate full consultation with all key stakeholders to ensure integrated, participatory, coordinated, and collaborative processes.
Support strengthening of management effectiveness of protected areas, focusing on priority landscapes.
Coordinate all efforts with regional initiatives and advise WWF on pertinent PA issues in DRC
Profile
Required Qualifications
Advanced university degree in an appropriate field (conservation / environment / natural resource management; forest / terrestrial ecology).
At least 3 years of professional experience in protected area development and/or management, preferably in developing country context and especially in Africa
Required Skills and Competencies
Proven leadership and team management skills; ability to quickly pull a team together, set objectives, motivate and drive towards results.
Skilled in facilitation, negotiation, liaison, and relationship and conflict management; ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders, from government agencies to local communities.

WWF Mediterranean Communications Officer
Contribute to the promotion of biodiversity protection and energy efficiency in the Dinaric Arc!
Note: fluency is required in at least one of these languages ? Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Serbian ? with a good understanding and use of all others.
The Communications Officer will be based in Zagreb. He/she will develop communications work across the Dinaric Arc region ? Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
He/she will report to the WWF Mediterranean Director of Communications (based in Italy) and work in close coordination with the local team (partner NGOs Young Researchers of Serbia in Serbia, Green Home in Montenegro, and SUNCE in Croatia; and WWF colleagues based around the Dinaric Arc region).
The Communications Officer will be responsible for the communications component of a biodiversity conservation project (described below) to which he/she will dedicate most of his/her time; beyond that he/she will contribute to the development of WWF Mediterranean communications work in the Dinaric Arc region (in particular in Croatia).
The project ? ?Partnership actions for biodiversity protection in Western Balkans? ? aims to contribute to the protection of biodiversity and natural resources in Serbia and Montenegro by supporting the implementation of innovative environmental policies (such as Natura 2000) and regional campaigns (policy, advocacy and communications) as well as improving the skills of environmental NGOs and helping them to increase their visibility.
The main responsibilities of this position are to develop the communications aspects of the project strategy; to manage the project regional newsletter and blog; to provide expertise and guidance to local/regional NGO leaders on communications aspects; to organize a workshop on best practices in communications; to supervise the local NGOs? communications actions to promote biodiversity protection and energy efficiency.
More broadly, the Communications Officer will participate in the development of WWF Mediterranean communications work in the Dinaric Arc region, designing ideas and strategies, building up contacts, creating awareness on environmental issues in the region through media relations, online work and awareness-raising campaigns.
The main requirements are:
? A degree in journalism, communications or a related field.
? Fluency in at least one of these languages ? Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Serbian ? with a good understanding and use of all others. Business level fluency in English.
? At least five years? professional experience in a communications role.
? Up-to-date knowledge and proficiency with the full range of communications tools and approaches.

The position will assist with the planning, fund raising, coordination, communication, and management of program priorities and activities in areas of assignment. Location and supervision:
The intern will work closely with the Head of the Green Economy Programme plus related staff in Vienna and will also have close contact with colleagues in our country offices.
Timing:
2 to 4 months between May and October 2010
Requirements:
Strong economic and environmental interest in general and in transforming corporate practices towards sustainability in particular
CSR, environmental economics or other environmental related knowledge would be an advantage
Excellent oral and written expression in English

Policy Manager (Forest Management and Controlled Wood)
In the FSC Policy & Standards Unit, FSC is looking to fill the role of Policy Manager. The successful candidate in his/her position of Policy Manager will be responsible for the development and maintenance of FSC policies and standards in the core area of forest management certification and Controlled Wood. This dynamic role will include activities related to research, facilitation of Technical Working Groups and pilot tests, communication and education, training, project development and administration, monitoring and represent FSC externally.
Policy Officer (Social Program)
In the FSC Policy & Standards Unit, FSC is looking to fill the role of Policy Officer. The successful candidate in his/her position of Policy Officer will be responsible for supporting and complementing the functions of the Social Program Manager in relation to the implementation of the FSC Social Policy Program. The three main goals of which are to: 1) build capacity of National Initiatives (NIs), government organizations, and NGOs to prepare small and community producers to obtain and benefit from certification; 2) improve marketing capacity through information and promotion of new labels for small and community producers, and 3) strengthen networks of small and community producers.

WWF-US seeks a Project Coordinator for its Latin America Program to manage and facilitate administration and financial monitoring of projects and budget for the program. The Project Coordinator provides financial and administrative technical assistance to program staff and others, which may include field offices and/or grantees, and works to ensure financial and administrative information is well-organized, deadlines are met, and problems or inconsistencies are raised and addressed. This position is located in Washington, DC.
A Bachelor?s degree plus two years, or a minimum of four years relevant experience in budgeting, finance, or accounting is required. Familiarity with U.S. Government-funded projects is highly desirable. Candidates must be fluent in Spanish and English.

RESUMEN DEL TRABAJO
Esta posición trabaja en estrecha coordinación con el equipo técnico y programático de la oficina de WWF en Panamá, para el logro de los objetivos y metas del programa forestal regional. Para ello debe realizar investigación, análisis y organización de la información para la preparación de informes, propuestas, presentaciones y la organización de un centro de documentación que facilite la consulta de material técnico.
De igual forma es responsable de apoyar la ejecución y seguimiento de los proyectos forestales, . En este contexto apoya el monitoreo y evaluación paradar seguimiento a los indicadores y objetivos establecidos para los procesos internos del programa forestal y las propuestas de innovación y mejora que permitan fortalecer el impacto del trabajo de WWF en el campo y una mayor visibilidad de estos resultados al nivel regional.
Entre sus áreas de competencia se encuentra además a organización de actividades y eventos especiales para el programa forestal, tal comola planificación de giras de campo y viajes con donantes, seguimiento con contactos del gobierno, industrias, medios de comunicación y otros. Estas tareas deben estar coordinadas con el Departamento de Información y Comunicaciones, para efectos de difusión en medios, producción de boletines, materiales impresos y audiovisuales, entre otros.
El puesto requiere mantener una constante comunicación con el personal basado en Panamá, la sede regional en Costa Rica y la Red WWF.
REQUERIMIENTOS MÍNIMOS PARA EL PUESTO
Conocimientos: Formación técnica en conservacion de recursos naturales. Preferible grado de Bachillerato universitario, y conocimientos de Administración.
Experiencia: Experiencia mínima de dos años en organizaciones no gubernamentales vinculadas al tema de recursos naturales y/o medio ambiente.
Destrezas y habilidades:

Le Parc National de la Salonga est considéré comme une des régions les plus importantes pour la conservation de la biodiversité en Afrique centrale. Cependant, le braconnage des hommes armés et les conflits liés aux limites problématiques et à la délocalisation de certains groupes humains du parc contribuent à accélérer la dégradation de la biodiversité de ce parc.
L?Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature (ICCN) et ses partenaires sont en cours de renforcer la formation des gardes dans la lutte anti braconnage et de mettre en ?uvre diverses initiatives tendant à la réduction des conflits entre les communautés locales et le personnel de l?ICCN sur le terrain.
Le WWF recherche un consultant pour un appui technique devant permettre aux gardes et à la communauté locale de s?impliquer efficacement dans les opérations de réduction de l?érosion de la biodiversité du Parc National de la Salonga et dans le respect d?une manière consensuelle de ses limites.
TERMES DE REFERENCES
FONCTIONS PRINCIPALES
? Vérifier et collecter les données géoreférencées sur les limites du parc dans le secteur de Mundja pour validation de la carte SYGIAP.
? Impliquer les autorités traditionnelles dans le processus de vérification des limites et plus tard de leurs matérialisation en s?inspirant des résultats des travaux de WCS sur la délimitation participative dans d?autres secteurs du parc.
? Entreprendre des contacts avec les autorités coutumières pour l?identification de la manière la plus efficace et la plus durable permettant l?implication des communautés locales dans la clarification et la matérialisation des limites du parc dans le secteur de Mundja.
? Coordonner les activités communautaires en collaboration avec Pact.
? Contribuer au renforcement de la collaboration entre les agents de l?ICCN et la population locale en impliquant cette dernière dans les travaux de terrain.
? Collecter les informations sur les réseaux de braconnage actifs dans le PNS.
? Appuyer le Chef de Station de Mundja dans la planification des patrouilles et de certaines opérations pratiques de lutte anti braconnage.
? Développer et/ou mettre en ?uvre la stratégie pour l?élimination des camps des braconniers dans le parc et ses alentours.
? S?assurer de la bonne maintenance et du bon fonctionnement des matériels et équipements affectés au fonctionnement des activités du programme.
? Tenir régulièrement au courant le Conseiller du Parc et le Chef de Site du progrès des travaux et des difficultés éventuelles.
? Entreprendre tout autre tache pertinente qui lui sera confié dans le cadre de l?exécution de sa mission.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES
? Formation universitaire de second cycle au moins en biologie, sciences sociales ou gestion des ressources naturelles.
? Très bonne connaissance de la conservation de la biodiversité avec un accent sur les Aires Protégées.
? Expérience de travail avec les communautés locales dans la région de la Salonga.
? Connaissance pratiques dans l?organisation des patrouilles de surveillance dans une AP.
? Bonne maîtrise du français et du lingala. La connaissance des autres langues locales serait un atout.
? Etre disposé à travailler en équipe.
? Bonne santé physique et disponibilité à voyager dans des conditions de confort réduit à travers le Parc National de la Salonga et le landscape Salonga-Lukenie-Sankuru.
? Aptitude à travailler indépendamment et sous pression de temps.
