Jacques-Maynes declared Master's women 30-34 'cross champion

Due to a violation of rules 1H4 and 1A29 of the 2007 USA Cycling Rulebook, the results of the Masterandrsquo;s Women 30-34 category at the 2007 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships have been revised. Original winner Maureen Bruno-Roy has been declared ineligible for competing in a UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup race prior to the national championships. Runner-up Josie Jacques-Mayne has been recognized as the new national champion. Sally Annis is the new silver medalist and and Kristi Berg is the new bronze medalist.
Johnson, Compton Earn Cyclo-cross National Calendar Titles

USA Cycling has recognized Tim Johnson and Katie Compton as the overall winners of the 2007 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Racing Calendar. Following the conclusion of the 38-event calendar at the Urban Cyclo-Cross competition in Irvine, Calif. on January 19, Johnson earned 512 points on the menandrsquo;s side, while Compton garnered 310 to take the top spot for the women. Johnson took a commanding overall calendar victory, 131 points ahead of second-place Barry Wicks, while Compton unseated last yearandrsquo;s winner and this yearandrsquo;s third-place finisher Lynn Bessette who earned 200 points.

USA Cycling announced today the four men nominated to represent the United States in the elite menandrsquo;s division of the 2008 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships, Jan. 26-27 in Treviso, Italy. Three men earned automatic nominations to the squad - Jonathan Page, Ryan Trebon and Tim Johnson. Page qualified as a silver medalist from the 2007 world championships while Johnson and Trebon earned their spots as the next two Americans in the UCI Cyclo-cross Rankings.

USA Cycling announced today its first lot of nominations to the U.S. National Team for the 2008 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Treviso, Italy, Jan. 26-27. Sixteen athletes were nominated to the squad in the elite womenandrsquo;s, U23 menandrsquo;s and junior menandrsquo;s categories based on their competitive performance over the course of the last year. After capturing a silver medal at the 2007 world championships, Katie Compton received an automatic nomination and will lead the elite womenandrsquo;s squad. Last year's silver medalist in the junior men's division, Daniel Summerhill earned a discretionary pick to the U23 men's team.

It took Tim Johnson seven years and a return to Kansas City, but he reclaimed his title as USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Champion on Sunday. The 2000 national champ out rode last yearandrsquo;s UCI World Championship silver medalist, Jonathan Page and a bevy of talented riders to take home the 2007 title. Katie Compton earned her fourth consecutive national title in the elite womenandrsquo;s race, taking off from the gun and never looking back. Jamey Driscoll and Kasey Manderfield also grabbed national titles in the collegiate division.

Despite blowing snow and temperatures in the teens, Bjorn Selander gave the crowd one of the most exciting finishes of the USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships, earning himself not only a stars-and-stripes jersey but also the right to call himself the nationandrsquo;s best young andlsquo;cross racer. Also during Saturdayandrsquo;s action in Kansas City, Amy Dombroski successfully defended her U23 crown and several master menandrsquo;s national titles were awarded, including one to Andy Jacques-Maynes who solidified his comeback with a win in the menandrsquo;s 30-34 age division.
Cyclo-cross Nationals Open With Junior and Master Contests

The USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships officially opened Friday with just over 400 junior and master riders aged 10 to 67 competing for stars-and-stripes jerseys at Wyandotte County Park in Kansas City, Kan. Local favorite Steve Tilford rode to national championship in the day's only master men's race, while eight master women earned the right to call themselves the nation's best cross racers. America's future looked bright as more young riders than ever took to the start in the morning's junior contests.

Defending Elite Men's champion Ryan Trebon and Women's Elite champion Katie Compton are among the nation's best athletes ready to line up at this week's USA Cycling National Cyclo-cross Championships in Kansas City, Kan. A record total of 2,045 entries have been received for the nearly 40 races between Thursday and Sunday at Kansas City's Wyandotte County Park. Daily race results, a comprehensive press release and photos will be available right here at usacycling.org.

The deadline to register for this year's USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships is only a few days away and organizers would like to remind competitors that registration for the event is online only. The registration deadline for the Dec. 13-16 event at Kansas City's Wyandotte County Park is Saturday, Dec. 8 at midnight CST. Visit www.kccrossnationals.com to register. No on-site registrations are allowed and all entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Attention USA Cycling Members: Please note, the deadline for elite women, U23 men and junior men to submit petitions for consideration as a discretionary nomination to the team that will represent the United States at the 2008 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in January is Monday, Dec. 10. Unlike past years, the deadline to submit petitions to USA Cycling falls before the USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships, scheduled this year for Dec. 13-16 in Kansas City, Kan. The deadline of Dec. 10 is only applicable to the aforementioned categories. Elite men who wish to be considered will have until Jan. 4 to submit their petitions.
