First-Ever Collegiate Open House a success

USA Cycling's first-ever Collegiate Recruiting Open House was deemed a success on June 14 by those in attendance. Nine colleges and universities were represented on site including Lindsey Wilson College, Pfeiffer College, Lindenwood University, Ripon College, Lees McRae College, Morehead State University, Murray State University, Marian College and Midwestern State University.
08 Ryan Collegiate All Star Team announced

USA Cycling and construction giant, the Ryan companies has announced the six athletes that will make up the Ryan Collegiate All-Stars at the Nature Valley Grand Prix, June 11-15. Devon Haskell of the University of Chicago, Anna McLoon of Harvard University, Amanda Miller of Colorado State University, Carla Swart of Lees-McRae College, Jennifer Stebbins of Dartmouth College and Chloe Forsman of the University of Arizona will make up the squad which was determined through final omnium standings at the USA Cycling Collegiate National Championships.
Rocky Mountain Conference Championship goes to CSU

After eight weekends of cutthroat racing in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference, the Colorado State University Rams Cycling team has been crowned conference champions. The Rams took home the championship, winning nearly twice as many points as their nearest competitor and rival, Colorado University, with perennial powerhouse Fort Lewis College finishing third.
North Central Collegiate Conference champions crowned

The North Central Collegiate Cycling Conference completed the 2008 season with a road race and team time trial hosted by the University of Iowa and Grinnell College. Both races were contested in Amish country near Kalona, Iowa. Winds were strong, temperatures were well below normal but the racing was red hot! Missing were the two North Dakota Universities, unable to travel due to an unusual April Blizzard bringing more than a foot of snow on Friday and Saturday.
Dual-Directorship for the Southeast Collegiate Cycling Conference

USA Cycling and the Southeast Collegiate Cycling Conference welcome new leadership with the appointment of Dave Brown and Nathan Haslick as conference co-directors. Brown and Haslick will share the director roles of the Southeast Collegiate Conference, which encompasses Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Florida. Brown will focus his efforts on the spring collegiate road season while Haslick will manage the fall mountain bike and cyclo-cross seasons.

USA Cycling would like to announce that tickets are now on sale for the Collegiate Tour Baby!, a film and fundraising tour to raise $500,000 for Collegiate Cycling and the Davis Phinney Foundation. Filmmaker Scott Coady will be visiting college towns all across the country on the 19-day Collegiate Tour Baby! journey. There are still a few dates available for teams or clubs to get involved and host a stop. For tickets, locations and the complete details, check out collegiatetourbaby.com.
2008-09 Collegiate Road Nationals awarded to Colorado State

The 2008 USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships have been awarded to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., USA Cycling announced today. Scheduled for May 9-11, the event is expected to attract nearly 500 student-athletes from around the country as they compete for one of 18 national titles in the discipline of road cycling. Following this announcement, only the USA Cycling BMX National Championships and the Master Road National Championships remain to be announced.
Southeast Collegiate Conference Director Needed

USA Cycling is currently looking for a Volunteer Conference Director for the Southeast Collegiate Cycling Conference. The candidate must be geographically located in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina or Florida. This is an unpaid, volunteer position assigned by location with a budget provided by USA Cycling for assisting collegiate members, race promoters and collegiate clubs within the respective collegiate cycling conference.
Two collegiate scholarships available to student-athletes

Attention all USA Cycling collegiate cyclists: Applications for the 2007 John Stenner Collegiate Cycling scholarships are now available. USA Cycling will be awarding two $2,000 scholarships to the top male and female applicants based on several parameters. Scholarships will be awarded to full-time student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence in academics, community service and competitive cycling. Applicants must be a full-time student, a U.S. citizen, a current member of a USA Cycling collegiate club and a current USA Cycling collegiate cycling license holder.
